Carignane is rarely found varietally labeled and has origins in old world Spain and France. Our sold-out 2008 Carignane won a silver medal in the SF Chronicle Wine Competition and the sold-out 2009 vintage won a gold medal at the West Coast Wine Competition in Sonoma. Both vintages are from their personal library. The pre-release 2011 vintage is also part of the vertical. One magnum of 1996 Pickberry (St. Emilion Style Red Blend) The unique Pickberry Vineyard was planted on the sunny, rather steep, gravely slopes of Sonoma Mountain by a meticulous and farsighted couple, Cris and Lorna Strotz (Grandparents to Paul and Matt Hosemann). At a time when most viticulturists were planting Cabarnet Sauvignon or Chardonnay, the Strotz's chose to planta vineyard with a grape mixture similar to the vineyard of St. Emilion. Most notably Chateau Figaec with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
