Traditional Dungeness Crab Season Opening Party - December 3, 2016
A big meal with friends to kick off Dungeness crab season is a tradition for Bay Area families. Like fresh powder at Sugar Bowl, it gives us something to look forward to during the winter months. We will welcome you to our home for an evening of dining and community around a meal based on fresh, local food featuring crab at its early-season best. The evening will start with an assortment of cocktails, refreshments and appetizers. The centerpiece of this meal will be live, freshly caught, local crabs - pulled right from the ocean nearby, cooked simply and cleaned immediately before serving. We will even show you how to do it yourself so you can continue the tradition at your house. The crab will be accompanied by a five course meal made with local ingredients. The menu will be based on what is in in season but it will certainly include Spaghetti Aglio e Olio and fresh Sourdough. We will also be serving a selection of California wines throughout the evening and we'll make sure not to forget dessert - in the unlikely event that you have any room left. Party starts at 6pm. Women and Whiskey - January 21, 2017
Want to know what all the buzz is about when it comes to the bourbon craze?? We are offering a class to talk about basics on whiskey: how to read a label, how to order a cocktail, how to impress a date with your drink order. We'll follow the class with a tasting from a collection of over 250 bottles of whiskey, as well as dozens of rum, gin, brandy, and tequila. The tasting will be by flights and will focus on a range of whisk(e)y... Bourbon, rye, American single malt, Scotch, Irish, Japanese. Depending on interest range, the flight will consist of five 1-ounce tastings plus a whiskey-based barrel-aged cocktail.The class and tasting will be taught by Niki Green, Certified Specialist of Spirits (CSS) from the Society of Wine Educators. The class will be about 1 hour, and the tastings will be through the night for total time of 2-3 hours, depending on the group and the tolerance. THIS IS FOR WOMEN ONLY (sorry gentlemen).
