2nd Annual Men's Bocce Ball Tournament - March 1, 2014
Balls of Fury. Bocce is an ancient game, its birth lost in the shadows of antiquity. Some historians claim bocce dates back 7,000 years. The Egyptians played it when they weren't struggling with pyramid stones, and the Romans picked it up from them. The Vulgar Latin word "bottia" - meaning ball - is the root of the Italian word boccia or Bocce, as the game came to be known. The English, who never quite got the hang of things, turned it into the tacky pastime you see on television's "Championship Bowling”. The Scots fashioned their ball from stone, flattened it, and called it curling. Unlike these bastardized forms, bocce is not a game of roll, slam, crash, rack and have another brewski. It's a ruthless sport involving skill, fitness, strategy and cunning. So start getting in shape, and practice with your balls! 12 top bidders join hosts, Simon Cawley, Phil Mogen, Brian Porter and Randy Wootton for a spirited bocce ball tournament at Make Westing in Downtown Oakland. Transport to the event, drinks, food and prizes will be provided. The event will take place Saturday March 1st, 2014

Ms Rochester's Kindergarten Mosaic Table
The Kindergarten Mosaic end tables are a study on abstract artists - think Wassily Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso. There may be a future abstract artist in this class. The table is a welcome and colorful addition to any patio, porch or outdoor space. Using cut glass, each tile created a tile for the table. If you look closely, you will see hearts, flowers and even rocket ships. They are each the child's interpretation of these through color and shape. A key is provided to see each child's contribution. They are for indoor or outdoor use, with a tile top and eucalyptus base. Special thank you to Snapshot Mosaic in Montclair for their generous donations of studio time and tutelage in the construction.

Bourbon & Burlesque - VIP - March 8, 2014
In the early 20th century, this great nation of ours lived through a regrettable period collectively labeled by men of letters as ‘Prohibition’. During this repressive time, creativity flourished in illegal establishments where hard-working folk could unwind, let their hair down and sip Kentucky’s finest bourbon or bath-tub gin...while a troupe of burlesque dancers were letting down their garments. Travel back in time to an authentic former San Francisco Speakeasy, where you will enjoy an evening of strong but slow-spoken American bourbons, entertainment by uninhibited vixens, a card game or two, and the company of fellow high-spirited scofflaws. Six couples will get special VIP spots for Bourbon & Burlesque. In addition to all the party has to offer, this will get you guaranteed transportation to and from the event; special bourbon tastings in your own private lounge; and maybe a special burlesque dance, too.
