5th Grade Chuck Close-Inspired Portraits
Our 5th graders were inspired by Chuck Close, an American artist who achieved fame as a photorealist overcoming his disability with the gift of beautiful art in a form the world had not seen. His art style holds true to the statement “a picture is worth a thousand words.” The students gave careful attention to bring words to their photorealistic portraits once they had traced their own photographs. This art piece was made with a combination of many abstract and geometric shapes, with a final touch of colors combined to create a beautiful masterpiece that is sure to spark conversation.
